Flying to Indonesia
The national airline is Garuda Indonesia (GA) (www.garuda-indonesia.com). Other carriers include Thai Airways (www.thaiairways.com), KLM (www.klm.com) and Qatar Airways (www.qatarairways.com). There are no direct flights from Europe or the USA - most transit Dubai, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.
Flight times:
From London to Jakarta, is about 16 hours and to Denpasar, Bali is about 18 hours (including approximate stopover time). From New York to Jakarta is around 23 hours, but can be much longer depending on stopover times.
Departure tax:
Rp150,000 from Jakarta and Denpasar for international travel; Rp40,000 for domestic. Rp100,000 from other airports; transit passengers continuing their journey on the same day, and infants under the age of 2 are exempt.

Airport news: 
Extensive improvements and expansion of the terminal facilities are due for completion by mid-2013. A second airport in the north of the island, linked to Denpasar Ngurah Rai Airport by rail connection, is also at the planning stage.

Information desks (tel: (361) 751 011) are located in the arrivals areas of both terminals.

Transfer between terminals: 
The two terminals are within walking distance of each other.
Driving directions: 
From Denpasar, follow the signs for Kuta, from which the airport is clearly signposted.
Public Transport
Public transport road: 
Bus: Buses from the airport are infrequent, so are therefore not a recommended option.
Shuttle: A cheaper alternative to the taxis is a bemo (shared minibus), which can generally be found a short distance from the car park. In addition, many hotels operate courtesy shuttles.
Taxi: Taxis are available outside Arrivals and operate on a pre-paid voucher system. Vouchers are sold at the official taxi desk close to the airport exit. The fare to Kuta is about Rp50,000 and to Denpasar around Rp90,000. Journey times vary considerably depending on traffic.
Terminal facilities
Money: 
There are banks with bureau de change and ATMs within the terminal.
Food: 
A selection of restaurants, bars and cafés can be found dotted around the airport.
Shopping: 
Duty free, designer outlet and gift shops are available in the departures areas.
Other: 
Other facilities include a hotel reservation desk, pharmacy, and spa/massage facilities.
Airport facilities
Conference and business: 
Fax, photocopy, secretarial and internet facilities are available in an executive lounge in the International Terminal. A number of other VIP lounges are located in both terminals. Meeting and conference facilities are offered by several local hotels, including the Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali (tel: (361) 755 577; www.holidayinn.com), which is 10 minutes from the airport.
Disabled facilities: 
Wheelchairs can be supplied on request. The terminals are equipped with ramps and lifts.
Car parking: 
There is a 2,000-capacity single car park adjacent to the terminals, containing both long- and short-term parking spaces.
Car rental: 
Thrifty, Toyota, Hertz and local operators are represented at the airport. Car hire desks for these operators are located in both the International and Domestic Terminals.
Hotels
